Postcards Postcards are often a requirement for entering mail-in sweepstakes. You can be really
creative with postcards. You can make your own postcards, I use to cut out postcards from
cereal boxes when I first started entering sweepstakes!
A few things you can do for postcards is first in order to get greeting card envelopes I have purchased
Christmas cards after Christmas. While I was doing that an idea came to me. I cut off the
picture part of the card and use it as a postcard. Sometimes you will need to reinforce the card
because it is not strong enough.
Along the same lines I belong to the freecycle.org and at Christmas time I asked everyone to save
their Christmas cards and give them to me. I now have loads and loads of postcards. You don't have
to use only Christmas cards but birthday cards or an occasion cards! If there is writing on the back I cover
it with card stock.
Second you can buy cardstock from a craft store that are 6x4 size. If you use a
coupon from the newspaper you can get them very inexpensively.
Third I go to
Vista Print and design my own cards. Often Vista Print will have sales for next
to nothing and you only pay shipping. I have designed my postcards to say "Pick Me" or "I'm a Winner".
It is fun to create your own cards.
Fourth you can often find regular postcards at gas stations or local grocery stores. My
mom collects postcards whenever she takes a trip. She has donated many fun postcards to me.
Lastly you check out eBay and find some good deals on postcards that people are trying to get
rid of!
It doesn't matter what they say on the front, if you buy them or if you make your own postcards. Just have them
colorful and fun!
One last thing, sweepstakes sometime require you use a 3x5 postcard. You cannot do this because they will
not make it through the machines at the post office. When in doubt always fall back on the good old
pre-stamped postcards at the Post Office.
Instructions
Here are some instructions:
More ideas how to make your own postcards.
How to address your postcards. You need to put
your address and information the sweepstakes rules require on the left side of the postcard. When you write
it make sure you are writing vertical. Make a line down the middle of the card. On the right
side write the address of destination the card will be going to. This is so the Post Office
machines don't get confused and send the card right back to you!
